MLB- Baseball season is officially over. The Kansas City Royals hoisted the Commissioner's Trophy Monday night for the first time since 1985. The Royals seemed to force improbable comebacks in almost every game of the series, including game 5. It was the 9th inning rally that tied the game and forced the game into extra innings yet again. The Mets’ closer Familia became the first player to blow three saves in a World Series. The Mets offense also struggled throughout the series, with postseason hero, Daniel Murphy, only batting .150. Salvador Perez took home MVP honors after batting .364. The Royals celebrated their win with the annual parade, and it drew some of the biggest crowds ever. 800,000 people crowded into the streets, which is almost double the population of Kansas City itself.
NHL- The defending champion Chicago Blackhawks are not off to their typical start, with a record of 6-5. The St. Louis Blues are currently 8-2. The Dallas Stars are leading the division, along with several offensive categories.
NBA- Not many games have been played this season so far, so the stats are slightly skewed. Stephen Curry is currently leading the league with 39.9 points a game, while Andre Drummond is averaging 16.3 rebounds a game. The Bulls are currently 3-1, and The Cavs are right behind them at 2-1.
NFL- The Packers suffered their first loss Sunday night against the Denver Broncos. Four undefeated still remain, including Denver, New England, Cincinnati, and Carolina. The Bears continue to struggle, falling to the Vikings at the final second on a field goal. St. Louis’s rookie running back, Todd Gurley, continues to dominate, helping the Rams secure a 27-6 victory.
