The Journalism Class took a field trip to the WMBD News Station last week to further learn what opportunities you could pursue in this field of work, and to just see the pros in action. We got a full tour of their facility and an in-depth explanation of what goes on throughout the day and week. The staff was incredibly kind and didn’t just treat us like some kids coming to their job on a field trip.
Towards the end of the field trip we got a hands on experience with the studio and cameras used to record channel 31’s broadcasts. We learned the true possibilities of a green screen and got a chance to try out some of the massive cameras they use to record the news. We were able to sit down in the same seats that some of the faces you see on your T.V. screen do every day.
We got to sit in on their noon broadcast before we left. I think the journalism class as a whole gained a lot of knowledge from this experience. It will further help our endeavors as a team. Big shout out to WMBD, thanks Dave!
