Doors opening to the beat of a drum, fruit flies with Alzheimers, making ice packs, magnetism, psychology experiments, and many more were all found at ISU last Friday at the annual high school research symposium, and Chem II got a chance to participate! The symposium this year had over 115 projects, 9 of which were from students here at Peoria heights. We got a chance to show our projects other students and teachers, as well as a few ISU professors and students.
Also there was an activity station called the Smart Grid. The Smart Grid showed us about new technologies in electric power and it also showed the amount of power different appliances used and how each little appliance can affect our power bills.
Overall, we really enjoyed the science fair. We put in a lot of time and effort into our projects and were glad to get a chance to show off our work. If you would like to participate next year, or want to know a little more about it, take a stop my Ms. Markovich’s for more information.
