The pep assembly for winter sports was held on Monday, November 25. Unfortunately, we were only given a half hour for this assembly, which cut some of our activities short.
The assembly started with the performance of our school song by the band, along with the cheerleaders and dance team. Then came the announcement of the wrestling team by Mr. Smith. After the wrestling team was announced, the dance team performed to Pon de Replay, by Rihanna. The performance was very nicely done and exciting. Once the dance team finished their dance, the girls’ basketball team was announced by Coach Adkins, along with Coach Lowe, Mrs. Winter, and Ashley Collins. Unfortunately, each team did not get a very large time slot, but despite the small amount of time they had, each player got his or her own recognition.
The cheerleaders performed their cheer next, pumping up the school spirit. The cheer went very well. The announcement of the boys’ basketball team was the last of the announcements. Coach Persich announced the boys and they all gave Mr. Adkins a very interesting round of applause for his excellent job coaching the football team this past season. Senior, Brayton Wallace, then made a speech explaining what the boys hope to achieve this year, and encouraging everyone to come out to the games and support the Patriots.
To finish off the assembly, the cheerleaders lead spirit wars between the classes. Overall, although being shorter than our fall sports assembly, the assembly went over smoothly. Come out and support our very own Patriots on the winter sports teams this season!
