It seems that the U.S. has been bombarded with tragedies lately. One day after the explosion in Boston, a fertilizer plant in West, Texas suffered an explosion strong enough to affect buildings all around it. The number of people who were killed stands at a haunting number of fifteen (at least to our knowledge). An estimated two hundred people were injured in this explosion. This event killed and injured plant workers, firefighters, EMTS, etc. State and federal investigators dismissed the possibility of natural causes starting the fire that led to the blast. Some people were evacuated from their homes as a safety precaution. Unfortunately, when they returned, they found that their homes had been damaged in the explosion. Others were not as lucky, however, as many tragically died within their homes. President Obama declared this site a federal disaster area.
The journalism staff will keep those involved in the explosion (as well as their families) in our thoughts. We hope you will join us.
