The “March Madness Experience” is surely an experience for Key Club every year. Each member attends the event to work specific stations, whether it is something like “Joe’s Sports Bounce” or “Skyball.” What makes this day really special is that these students are able to work with children and young adults that have disabilities. The purpose is for everyone to have fun, and that is something that is accomplished nearly every single year.
“March Madness” is more than just fun and games for kids. This term was actually used to describe the excitement revolving around the Illinois state high school basketball tournaments (IHSA). In Illinois, March Madness is essentially a series of tournaments in which high school basketball players face opposing teams. It’s meant for both boys’ and girls’ basketball teams. The schools must be located in either Peoria or Normal to participate. Only the “Elite Eight” will advance to state finals.
March Madness goes beyond high school teams, however. The “Elite Eight” might mean something to high school players, but to those in the NCAA Men’s/Women’s Division, it is everything. Being a part of the “Elite Eight” means that teams will be moving into finals. Ultimately, that means that they are one step closer to being champions. There are 68 men’s college basketball teams and there are 64 women’s college basketball teams. Not only is the competition at its highest for these basketball players, but it’s at its highest for viewers.
March Madness is an experience for everyone. Ask yourself this: Is your head in the game?
