So far this season the Patriots have had 12 games get cancelled due to the weather. The first games of the year were against Abingdon, which the Patriots lost the first game 7-1 with Lucas Hunt on the mound, and the second game against Abingdon the Patriots came after losing by six runs and eventually took the lead but couldn’t hold on to it at the end and the Patriots lost 11-10, with Zack Wilson being the starting pitcher.
The next game the Patriots traveled to Princeville with Kris Whalen making his first start of the season. In his efforts he only gave up three hits and one un earned run with his complete game as the patriots won 6-1.
On the same week the Patriots traveled to Hartem to play in a non-conference game, with Lucas Hunt pitching his second start. The Patriots hit the ball very well this game with clutch RBI’s from Nick Karl, and Cody Schindler. Lucas Hunt only gave up three hits, and one earned run, with eight strikeouts in his complete game effort, as the Patriots won 9-2.
On April 5, the patriots hosted their home opener against Brimfield-Elmwood, in a Prairie Land Conference game. In the first game Zack Wilson and Matt Dwyer of Brimfield went head to head on the mound both having great starts. Zack Wilson had A three hitter and the Patriots gave up only three runs due to errors, but the Patriots couldn’t manufacture any runs in the game with Matt Dwyer throwing a no-hitter and only allowing one base runner, as the Patriots lost 3-0. The second game Kris Whalen pitched well but the team had too many errors, and they could only score one run as the patriots lost 11-1.
On April 13, the Patriots traveled to Knoxville to play in a Prairie Land Conference matchup. In the first game Zach Wilson pitched a gem, but the patriots couldn’t score any runs to support him. The score was 1-0 but the one run was scored on an error. The next game Lucas Hunt was on the mound, and he had a good outing as well, until the fourth inning when Knoxville got runners on base due to errors. Knoxville ended up taking the lead 5-0 at this point. The Patriots scored one run this game with a dropped third strike by Austin Wilson. The Patriots lost 5-1 in there efforts.
